Provins presents itself as Switzerland's largest wine producer. The cooperative was founded in Sion in 1930, when Valais winegrowers joined forces during a crisis in the local wine trade, and took its current name in 1934. Today Provins operates across six locations, from Sion and Sierre to Leytron, Martigny, Brig and Susten, and was named Swiss Wine Cellar of the Year in both 2008 and 2013. Since 2020 Provins has been organised as a stock company with fenaco as majority shareholder, offering a range of more than 110 red, white, rosé and sparkling wines, grouped into lines such as the reference range Maître de Chais or the Charte d'Excellence, which dates back to 1945, with a strong focus on Chasselas. To taste the diversity, Provins hosts its own events in Sion such as Tavolata evenings and the Mondial du Chasselas.
