The Tenuta Castello di Morcote is a 150-hectare farming and wine estate on the Morcote peninsula on Lake Lugano, with seven hectares of terraced vines around the 15th-century castle. The estate has been family-owned for four generations and is now run by Gaby, granddaughter of Massimo Gianini, and her husband Maurizio. Around the castle, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay grow on porphyry soils, with further vineyards in Ligornetto, Tremona and Morbio Superiore in the Mendrisiotto. The estate works organically and biodynamically, and the winery runs entirely on solar energy. Tastings and Wine & Dine evenings take place in the cellar by reservation.
