The Mels winegrowers' cooperative was founded in 1938 and is based in the Rathauskeller on the village square in Mels. Around 70 members, including more than 50 part-time winemakers, farm vineyards between Sargans and Heiligkreuz, and the cellar master is Toni Bardellini. The range extends from Pinot Noir, Riesling-Sylvaner and Chardonnay to Kerner, Pinot Gris and Souvignier Gris. The Rathauskeller runs a vinotheque, a wine shop and a restaurant in the vaulted cellar, and offers tastings with cellar tours as well as events such as the Herbst-Wein-Erlebnis.
