About this event
At Open Bottle Day, Terravigna brings 27 winemaking personalities and more than 130 wines to Casino Bern, including Bonnet du Fou from Lake Biel, Salwey from Baden, Barth from the Rheingau, Weingut Hirsch from the Kamptal as well as Donnafugata, Monteverro, Tua Rita and Fattoria Le Pupille from Italy. New releases and classics from the range are available to taste, and the winemakers are on hand in person for conversations. Admission is free but a free ticket is required, and two paid masterclasses also take place in an adjoining room.

As part of Terravigna's Open Bottles Day, a vertical of the VDP auction Sekt by Mark Barth from the Rheingau comes into the glass, eight vintages from 2014 to 2021. This Riesling Sekt is made once a year specifically for the VDP auction and is offered exclusively there. Together with Mark Barth and Mats van de Steenoven of Terravigna, guests compare how the aromas, mousse and freshness of a traditionally bottle-fermented Sekt develop with age. The venue is the Orchestra Room on the second floor of the Casino Bern.

In this masterclass on Open Bottles Day, Mats van de Steenoven of Terravigna, wine academic and Master of Wine student, opens rare and exclusive wines. At its heart is the question of what makes a great wine, how to recognise the highest quality in the glass and which factors determine the price. The wines tasted include the Chassagne-Montrachet La Maltroie 1er Cru 2024 from Maison Harbour and the Barolo Aleste 2017 from Luciano Sandrone. The venue is the Orchestra Room on the second floor of the Casino Bern.
