Blauburgunderland is the official name given in 2002 to the vineyards of the canton of Schaffhausen, backed by the region's entire wine industry. Around 450 winegrowers and 19 wineries cultivate about 470 hectares across 20 municipalities, growing mostly Pinot Noir (Blauburgunder), which accounts for almost seventy percent of the vineyard area, far above the average in German-speaking Switzerland. Yearly highlights include the Schaffhauser Wiiprob, the Wii-Schiff boat tasting and the Wii-Donschtig, and the association also crowns a Blauburgunder of the Year. Anyone wanting to explore the region will find a dense network of wineries and wine tastings across Blauburgunderland.
