Frequently asked questions about wine tastings

Where can I taste wine in Switzerland?

Almost everywhere. Wine merchants, wineries, hotels and fairs regularly host tastings. Most events take place in and around Zurich, many also in Bern, Aargau, Lucerne, Basel and eastern Switzerland, and Valais, Vaud and Grisons are busy tasting regions too. weintasting.ch collects hundreds of upcoming dates from all over Switzerland.

How much does a wine tasting cost?

Many tastings are free, especially at wine merchants. Guided tastings usually cost between 20 and 100 francs, some organisers credit the amount towards a wine purchase. Premium tastings featuring rare wines can cost several hundred francs. Wine fairs usually charge 15 to 40 francs entry, some are free. The price is shown for every event as soon as the organiser has published it.

How do I find a wine tasting near me?

Use the canton filter on weintasting.ch, or go straight to the city pages for Zurich, Basel, Bern and more. The list shows all dates month by month, the map by location. With the newsletter you get the lineup of the best events every month.

What is the difference between a degustation and a wine fair?

A degustation is usually a guided event with a curated selection of wines, often around a theme such as a region or grape variety. At a wine fair, many producers pour at the same time and you taste freely from stand to stand. You will find both here, just filter by type.
